Blog Post #2

I have also learned to apply the skills and concepts learned in CAD 100 A/B in my Introduction to Environmental Science (ENVS-201). We have recently had to write a literature review with our group before we began our project on stormwater retention sites. In this we were each expected to write two pages based on two different reading that we found, which were strictly narrowed down to peer-reviewed articles. As most know these articles sometimes are not the easiest to read with the high leveled vocabulary. As I was finding these articles through the libraries one search and downloading them as PDF I would print them out. Once I printed it out I started highlighting information that seemed important about stormwater retention sites that I could use, once I was onto the second page I noticed that I had a lot of highlighting. I started to realize this was not helping as much as I thought. Then I remembered that in CAD with our readings, after each paragraph we were suppose to be able to summarize the paragraph and write it down. I found much easier when I started taking notes or summarizing on the side of the pages the text I have highlighted. When it came down to writing the paper it made much easier finding the information I needed as well with the ones I summarized, I was able to use because it had been written in my own words, and there wasn't no need of having to constantly put in quotations.
