Communication Across the Disciplines--Transfer Blogs

On this blog, we will be considering how we use the concepts and skills we've studied in CAD 100 in other situations. In education, one way scholars name this is "transfer of learning." Here's a video I made about transfer of learning for high school teachers, teaching an integrated reading/writing curriculum called ERWC.

Our course is based on a teaching-for-transfer curriculum designed by Kathleen Yancey, Liane Robertson, and Kara Taczak, described in their book Writing Across Contexts

Blog entries by students will focus on how they use skills of annotation, talking to the text, genre analysis, and so on or concepts such as rhetoric, rhetorical situation, audience, purpose, context, exigence, genre, and perspective to learn in their other classes.

Their posts will use the tools of a blog to link, embed videos or audio recordings, or include images to illustrate their points, such as this image of my annotations on a text we're reading together.

Then, they will comment on each other's blogs, making connections and describing what they've learned from each other.

I look forward to seeing the learning and conversation that occurs.
