One of the strategies that I have learned in CAD that I have adapted to my other courses is read like a writer. This strategy has been helpful when it has come down to my Native American Societies (SBS-245) in which we have weekly primary source forum, picture essays responses due weekly. With this being due weekly we have to do three different pieces of writing. First we must read the chapter of the book which will help us with the quiz. At the beginning of the course we were told to rent or buy the textbook by the following week, with the complaint of many students complaining that the book was quite expensive even if meant renting it. The professor compromised and ended up publishing each chapter weekly for students via pdf. As I had already rented the book, as I had the thought that it would be easier. Once it came around time to start working on the assignments, I realized that it became quite difficult since the book was rented. I was unable to highlight or annotate on the side of the book. When I read the chapter I would keep a piece of paper where as I read, I wrote down the sub-heading and would take down notes that seemed important. As for the Primary Source Forum and Picture Essay Responses I would first read over the questions of consideration, choose the questions I was gonna choose to write about. I would write down the questions, and as I read I would write down notes that related to the question in order too write the my short 150-250 word paper.
